My Approach

If you are seeking a therapist, you may currently sense a conflict or discrepancy between the life you are currently living and the actual expression of your truest self. You may experience anxiety, depression, or less pleasure in activities you previously enjoyed. Perhaps you would like relationships, career, or other aspects of your life to be more fulfilling and aligned with your truest values and aspirations.

Active engagement and deep empathic listening are hallmarks of my work. My style is collaborative, honest, respectful, and direct. Working with a therapist is a unique kind of relationship – one in which you can explore your essential self in an environment of safety and nonjudgmental empathy.

Therapy can be thought of as a dialogue which serves to illuminate and bring awareness, insight, and understanding to seemingly disparate aspects of our lives. This allows us to proceed on a journey toward a unified, whole, and more fulfilling self. I am excited and honored to accompany you on that journey.

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

About Me

I am drawn to psychotherapy by the intensely relational aspect of this work.  For me, interpersonal dynamics are the most fascinating aspect of the human experience.   In addition to my training as a therapist, in my work, I draw upon my personal life experience.  I have worked in a wide variety of settings – in education and psychotherapy – with diverse populations of children, teens, adults, and families.  My ongoing interest in theater, history, literature, and the arts also informs my work.

My education includes a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco.   I also hold an M.L.I.S. (Master of Library and Information Science) degree from San Jose State University, and a California teaching credential.
